Penguins: Crosby Will Not Require Surgery On Wrist

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – It now appears Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will not require surgery for his injured wrist.

According to the Penguins' official website, Crosby will continue to get treatment on his wrist and will undergo continual evaluation.

"After seeking additional medical advice, doctors have decided not to perform surgery on Sidney Crosby's wrist. Sid will continue treatments and be evaluated regularly while he prepares for training camp in September," Penguins General Manager Jim Rutherford said in a statement.

Last week, the Penguins announced Crosby had suffered an injury to his right wrist during the season.

At the time, Rutherford said the possibility of arthroscopic surgery was being considered.

Injury concerns were fueled by Crosby's struggle to produce in the playoffs. In 13 games, Crosby only registered one goal and eight assists.

Last month, Crosby took home the Hart Trophy, Art Ross Trophy and the Ted Lindsay Award at the NHL's awards ceremony in Las Vegas.
