Penguins Announce 8-Game Preseason Schedule

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) –The Stanley Cup Finals are set to begin on Wednesday, but it's never too early to look ahead to next season.

Today, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced their preseason schedule ahead of the 2015-16 season.

This year's preseason schedule is jam-packed with eight games. According to the Penguins' official site, this will be the most preseason games played by the team since 2005-06 (10).

The game on Sept. 29 against Tampa Bay will be played at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown. The game will be broadcast on NBCSN.

The arena won the Kraft Hockeyville USA contest this spring and was awarded an NHL preseason game along with $150,000 in arena upgrades.

The annual "Free Game for Kids" will be held on Sept. 26 against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Tickets will be distributed to local youth hockey organizations in western Pennsylvania.

The full television schedule has not been released at this time.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Sept. 21 – at Columbus – 7 p.m.
  • Sept. 22 – Carolina – 7 p.m.
  • Sept. 24 – at Detroit – 7:30 p.m.
  • Sept. 26 – Columbus – 4 p.m.
  • Sept. 28 – at Montreal – 7 p.m.
  • Sept. 29 – Tampa Bay (in Johnstown, Pa.) – TBD
  • Sept. 30 – Detroit – 7 p.m.
  • Oct. 2 – at Carolina – 7 p.m.
