Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Vehicle In Carrick

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police were in Carrick Monday night, where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

According to police,. the accident happened before 9 p.m. in the 1600-block of Brownsville Road.

Police say the 34-year-old man was hit after leaving a bar. The car's windshield had been smashed quite badly.

He was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital in serious condition, with a head and leg injury.

"I was walking down the street, and I witnessed a car coming down -- the man walking out, not paying attention, not really sure what the driver was doing, but he wasn't speeding down the street at all," said a witness who did not want to be identified. "And by the time he was able to see him, it was already too late, he had already hit the man and flipped over and hit the road. And we ran over to him, called 911 and they came."

She said he wasn't conscious at the time, but was breathing.

Police talked with the driver for more than an hour at the scene, but he has not been charged.
