Parkway East Chase Ends With Deadly Crash In Oakland

OAKLAND (KDKA)- State police are conducting a full investigation into a pursuit that ended with a deadly crash in Oakland early Wednesday morning.

An officer pulled over the suspects for a moving violation in a construction zone near the Squirrel Hill Tunnel around 2:30 a.m.

While approaching the vehicle, the officer smelled marijuana. At that time, the vehicle took off.

After a brief chase, the suspect got off at the Bates Street exit and hit another vehicle head-on.

The driver of the suspects' vehicle died, but their name has not been released. Three others inside were injured.

One person in the other vehicle was injured.

At least two people were taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for treatment.
