Pain At The Pump: Gas Prices Heading Back Up

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Something this good couldn't last forever.

It looks like gas prices are going up.

This week prices have climbed, and locally it's been anywhere from 10-to-15 cents per gallon.

"Crude supplies are the highest they've been in 85 years," says Don Bowers with Superior Petroleum.

But he says there are gasoline inventory issues created by the oil companies taking refineries down for maintenance.

"They'll do anything they can to move up the price and some of these things, I don't know if they are orchestrated or what, but they certainly pick the times to do it," Bowers said.

That coupled with a refinery fire in Lima, Ohio, and suddenly prices are going up.

"Well, I figured that," said one driver. "I figure summer's going to be coming, it will probably be up to $4."

So just where are prices heading?

"We're going up to somewhere between $2.35 and $2.39," said Bowers.
