Name released of woman found dead in Westmoreland County pond
NEW STANTON BOROUGH, Pa. (KDKA) — The coroner released the name of a woman found dead in a pond in Westmoreland County.
Police asked for help identifying her on Nov. 7 and later said she had been identified, but didn't release her name.
According to state troopers, the woman was found in a pond near the 200 block of Broadview Road in New Stanton Borough. On Nov. 6, officials responded to that area for a report of an unknown object floating in a pond.
On Nov. 13, the coroner released her name, saying they were able to identify 34-year-old Kele Diane Townsend of Jeannette by using medical records, her teeth, tattoos and jewelry.
The cause and manner of her death are still pending the result of the autopsy, toxicology, and further investigation. State police are helping the coroner's office investigate.
