Pa. Officials Stop Rare Bourbon Sale, Saying It's Illegal
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pennsylvania liquor regulators say they've stopped the illegal sale of a bottle of rare bourbon at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
Officials from the state's Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement and university police seized the 750-milliliter bottle of 20-year-old Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon from a Duquesne address around 1:20 p.m. Thursday.
Officials didn't identify the alleged seller but said charges are pending.
They described the bottle of Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve as "very rare and high end."
Varieties of the Kentucky-made bourbon have sold for $130 to $1,190.
