Pa. Man Steals Ambulance, Leads Police On Chase

READING, Pa. (AP) - Police say a Pennsylvania man stole an ambulance and led them on a 10-mile chase before he was arrested.

Boyertown police say 47-year-old Kevin C. Fountain stole a Reading Fire Department ambulance Saturday at about 6 a.m. as an emergency crew was tending to a patient inside a hospital. After the chase Fountain ended up in Exeter Township. That's about 40 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

The Reading Eagle reports that Fountain is facing charges of receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, false identification to law enforcement and other traffic offenses.

Fountain is being held in the Berks County jail, unable to post $25,000 bond. No attorney was listed on court papers.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13.
