Pa. Man Accused Of Trying To Kill 4-Year-Old Boy, Assaulting Mother

HONESDALE, Pa. (AP) - A northeastern Pennsylvania man accused of throwing a 4-year-old boy head-first into the arm of a couch has been charged with attempted homicide.

Wayne County's district attorney said 32-year-old Steven Wojtowicz of Beach Lake is also charged with aggravated assault of the child's mother and other counts.

State police allege in an affidavit of probable cause that he punched and slapped the woman at a Berlin Township residence Monday and also hit, choked and threw the boy "saying he hoped the child's neck would break."

Police allege that he also threatened to kill both and bury them in the swamp behind the house.

The boy was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Court documents don't list a defense attorney; a number listed for the defendant had been disconnected.
