Owner Charged After Husky Is Found With Severe Neck Wound

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Humane officers are thanking the public for their help in identifying the owner of an emaciated dog whose throat had been badly cut.

Investigators say tips poured in about Barney, the Siberian husky, found in Homewood with a nasty neck wound.

They tracked down the owner who is currently in jail on unrelated charges.

"He did admit that the dog had been restrained with a cable, and in the course of a 24-hour period, caused the laceration on the dog's neck," said Ed Mitchell, a Humane Society police officer.

Humane officers say 20-year-old Don Miller brought the dog in for help, but denied being its owner.

He's now facing charges.

Barney is expected to be fine.
