'Overwhelming' Flood Relief Arrives For Connellsville From Nashville

CONNELLSVILLE (KDKA) -- "I'm overwhelmed to be honest with you."

That's the reaction from volunteer Bonnie Crisci after a 53-foot trailer arrived at the Church of Christ in Connellsville early Saturday morning. Thousands of dollars in flood relief items were inside.

"I am totally amazed at what's in these boxes," volunteer Cathay Murphy said. "They thought of details."

Churches of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee is a Christian relief organization. It was Pastor Jeff Rowan in Connellsville who put out the call for help.

"We spoke to them, probably 10 years ago, contributed to them but obviously nothing like this," Rowan said.

Nothing donated was a luxury. From food to the needs of the smallest flood victims, everything was a necessity.

Vital clean up items also arrived. This act of generosity for those who will distribute it is wonderfully stunning.

"I cried, when that truck pulled up I cried," said Murphy. "To think 250 people I will never meet cared to help us."

Anyone interested in receiving assistance should contact Kim Rowan at 724-366-7622 or the church at 725-628-6008.
