One Person Stabbed In Market Square

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- One person was stabbed in Market Square on Thursday.

Emergency dispatchers say it happened around 6 p.m.

Police say it all stemmed from an argument between the stabbing victim and another man.

At some point, punches were allegedly thrown between a group of about five people and then one man grabbed a knife, slashing the man's hand. The victim was also stabbed in his neck and back.

A witness said when EMS and police arrived, the group scattered.

"I'm coming around the bend and I see group of people fighting, punches being thrown, and a person pull a knife and stab the victim across the back of his head," said Darryl Richardson from Homestead. "He looked like he could walk away but he had blood coming from his head."

The victim was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment. His condition is not known.
