The man was identified as Samuel Trusso, and according to the criminal complaint, witnesses told police that Trusso and the girlfriend of the victim had been married for about a decade and had separated in October 2021, and were going through a divorce.

Trusso had called his ex to tell her he had been threatened by his current girlfriend and had nowhere else to go.

Once he arrived, he and the new boyfriend got into a fight, prompting Trusso to leave.
