Man Killed While Changing Flat Tire On I-279

OHIO TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A man was struck by a vehicle and killed while he was changing a flat tire on I-279 in Ohio Township on Thursday afternoon.
It happened just before 1:30 p.m. on I-279 northbound.
According to state police, 55-year-old Scott Hirsh had pulled his vehicle onto the right shoulder of the road to change a flat tire.
Hirsh was in the process of changing the tire when a 65-year-old man driving a Honda Civic veered off the side of the road onto the right shoulder, striking Hirsh and then his vehicle.
Hirsh was pronounced dead at the scene.
