Ohio Senate: Put The Country On Permanent Daylight Saving Time
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio Senate on Wednesday approved a resolution calling on the U.S. Congress to put the country permanently on daylight saving time.
The resolution is one of several bills and resolutions approved recently by state legislatures calling on Congress to pass its "Sunshine Protection Act of 2019." President Donald Trump tweeted last year that he's in favor of the idea.
The twice-yearly switch between standard and daylight saving time is "government-induced biannual jetlag," said resolution sponsor Sen. Kristina Roegner, a Republican from Hudson in northeastern Ohio.
Roegner said the time changes in the fall and spring can lead to health issues, workplace injuries and car accidents as people struggle to adjust.
The resolution goes next to the Ohio House.
