Officials Recover Missing Flooding Victim In Greenbrier Co.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Emergency officials say the body of a flooding victim has been recovered in Greenbrier County, bringing the number of those killed to at least 21 with two people still missing.

Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director Jimmy Gianato says in a statement the body will be taken to the state medical examiner for an autopsy. The victim was not identified. The release says the two still missing in Greenbrier County are presumed dead.

The emergency management agency says a new disaster recovery center has opened in Summers County, joining five other centers in hard-hit areas.

Jackson and Lincoln counties have been added to the list of a dozen counties eligible for federal disaster assistance.

State road officials have estimated the flooding caused about $36 million in damages to roadways in 18 counties.
