Officials Break Ground On Cedar Point Youth Sports Complex

SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) - The owners of Cedar Point amusement park have broken ground on a $23.5 million youth-sports complex in northern Ohio.

The Cedar Point Sports Center in Sandusky is a venture between Cedar Point, Erie County and the Georgia-based Sports Force Parks.

Officials started work on the first phase of the project this month. The project includes a sports center that's capable of hosing major amateur competitive events in several sports.

The complex will be located just a short drive from the park. Cedar Point bought the land last year.

An economic impact study conducted by Sports Force estimates the complex will bring more than 100,000 new visitors to the area after operating a couple years.

It's scheduled to open in Spring 2017.
