Ode To The Greenfield Bridge

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- We've seen the video and heard the sounds of Monday's implosion of one of Pittsburgh's oldest bridges.

Dave Crawley wraps things up with an "Ode to the Greenfield Bridge."

The plunger awaits, as a distant bridge stands,
Its future now placed in a demo crew's hands.
They've been on the scene early this morning.
A horn announces the three minute warning.

But let us give homage, before the big blow,
To a span built 94 years ago.
Beechwood Boulevard Bridge (the actual name)
And the Greenfield Bridge are one and the same.

But 94 years of constant erosion?
The Boulevard Bridge is in need of implosion.
With the dust that rises, it's hard to tell,
But a demo man says it went very well.

Then Greenfielders gather, up on a ridge,
To gawk at the rubble that once was a bridge.
Drivers must find with a new way to go.
A resident warns them to "go with the flow."
