NTSB Says Deadly Plane Crash Near Grove City Was Caused By Engine Problems

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The NTSB says the plane that crashed in Mercer County the day before Thanksgiving was having engine problems.

Officials say the pilot had landed at the Clarion Airport to add oil to the motor.

Witnesses told the NTSB that the plane was covered in oil and that the pilot didn't do an 'engine run up' before taking off.

Moments later, the plane crashed near the Grove City Airport.

The pilot and passenger were both killed.
