Police Investigating Northview Heights Shooting

NORTHVIEW HEIGHTS (KDKA) -- Police have arrested and charged two suspects in connection with a shooting in Northview Heights on Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 5:20 p.m. in the 500-block of Mt. Pleasant Road.

Officers were sent to the scene for a report that a male victim had been shot in the calf. Police say the victim was transported to Allegheny General Hospital in stable condition.

According to police, 20-year-old Khramm Jenkins of Homestead and 20-year-old Richard Taylor of Forest Hills have been charged in connection with the incident.

Investigators say detectives investigating at the scene spotted Jenkins and Taylor walking behind a building on Hazlett Street. Both took off and a foot chase ensued.

Detectives took Jenkins into custody on Penfort Street and say they found a gun, which turned out to be stolen.

Taylor was taken into custody in a nearby wooded area. Police say he was in possession of heroin, marijuana and a black ski mask.

Both are facing charges of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, firearms not to be carried without a license, escape. Taylor is also facing drug charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
