Northern Counties Hit Hard By Latest Storm

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - People in Butler County are dealing with more snow than most in the region after the latest round of winter weather moved through the area.

Plows were out in full force to clear more than 6 inches of snow that fell in parts of the county.

In Cranberry, plows were out early. Crews spent the morning clearing roads and creating mounds of snow everywhere you looked.

In addition to the snow, sleet and freezing rain left vehicles encased in ice.

"I used a shovel on it, because it's a work truck," Steve Sokol said.

The ice made shoveling even more difficult this morning as well.

"This is heavy. This is real heavy. Once you break through the first level of ice, there's powder underneath, but the top layer is heavy," Bob Smith said.

Minor fender benders were reported throughout the morning and some people found themselves stuck in areas that hadn't been plowed.

Most people agree that they are ready for warmer weather.

"I'm definitely ready for summer. I was thinking about heading on an early vacation if I could," Sokol said.
