North Side Hit-&-Run Crash Involving Port Authority Bus Injures 6

NORTH SIDE (KDKA) – Six people were injured in an accident involving a Port Authority bus on the North Side Monday afternoon.

According to emergency dispatchers, the accident happened near the intersection of Perrysville Avenue and Buena Vista Street around 1 p.m.

Witnesses say the driver of a gray SUV crossed the center line and smashed straight into the front of the bus.

"Happened so fast, guy came of nowhere, guess he wasn't looking where he was going," said passenger Efrum White, who was uninjured but his bike was destroyed.

Before the bus driver could get out, the SUV driver sped away.

"He ran into the rack and everything as soon as he could he got his car out he pulled away," said Tina Snooks.

Thirty people were on the bus, and six people suffered injuries.

"He hit the bus, we all flew up out of our seats in the front," said Jean Friedlander.

The SUV driver made it a few blocks before abandoning the vehicle nearby on Clayton Street and running away on foot. Police have not been able to locate him.
