2 Dogs Rescued From Apartment Fire On North Side

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Two dogs were rescued from an apartment fire on the North Side.

Crews battled flames at Wilson's Bar-B-Q on the 700 block of North Taylor Avenue in Pittsburgh's North Side on Tuesday.

When police arrived, they found the business owner trying to put out the fire.

The co-owner of the business came down from the apartments above the business with one of the dogs, which belong to a couple that lived above the business.

She gave it to the police and told them she was going back for the other.

Officials told her to stay out of the fire and rescued the other dog.

The couple who owns the dogs were not harmed in the fire.

A family friend of the business owner couldn't believe what he saw.

"I'm in shock," Marty Holton said. I'm devised. I'm just glad they are OK."

Two firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
