North Charleroi Burglary Suspect Escapes Custody

BENTLEYVILLE (KDKA) -- A suspect wanted in connection with thefts and robberies in North Charleroi escaped from constables Friday, as he was about to be arraigned.

The Observer-Reporter reports that Christopher Carroll was arrested around 10 a.m. in Rostraver, but he slipped away from state constables as they were switching handcuffs.

Carroll then began texting his alleged girlfriend, Kaisie Hunsberger, saying in part, "I've got the cuffs off. Meet me somewhere."

Hunsberger was found and arraigned on a criminal conspiracy charge and placed in the Washington County Jail on $5,000 bond.

Carroll was not in custody as of Saturday evening.
