No. 10 Seed Pitt Women Ready For 2 Seed Tennessee

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Coming off their first round 51-40 upset of No. 7 seed Chattanooga in the women's NCAA Tournament, Pitt is readying for their second round matchup with No. 2 seed Tennessee.

"We are even more excited to be playing in the second round. I don't know if any of us would have envisioned having the opportunity to play Tennessee on their home floor in this second round of the NCAA Tournament," head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio said. "We know that it poses a great challenge, and with that, a great opportunity where our players will continue to prepare just like we have for any opponent all year long. We will play with everything to gain and nothing to lose. We'll still be excited for the opportunity. This will be an incredible environment. I want our players to enjoy this incredible opportunity."

The last time these two teams met was back in 2007 at the Petersen Events Center in the second round of the NCAA Tournament when the No. 1 seed Lady Vols beat the No. 8 seed Panthers 68-54 on their way to winning one of their eight National Championships.

The Lady Vols are ranked fifth nationally and are coming off a first round 72-61 victory over Boise State.

The Pitt women's team have already surpassed all expectations this year after being picked to finish last in the ACC before the season. McConnell-Serio led the Panthers to an overall record of 20-11, (9-7 ACC) in her first season as the team's head coach.

Tip time for the game is 6:30 p.m.
