NHL Analyst Mike Rupp: 'I Haven't Seen Enough From Washington To Think They Can Come Back'

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - One win is standing between the Pittsburgh Penguins and a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals.

NHL Network Analyst and former Penguin Mike Rupp joined the "Cook and Poni Show" on Thursday to recap a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over the Washington Capitals.

The Pens have now taken a 3-1 series lead and could close it out with a win in Washington, D.C. on Saturday night.

So, is the series over? Can the Caps actually win three in a row over the Pens to take this series?

"If there is a team that could do it, it's them," Rupp said. "But, you can't just flip a switch."

Rupp said that the Pens' speed has put the Caps in an uncomfortable position.

"You expect Washington will bring their best in an elimination game," Rupp said. "But, I haven't seen enough from Washington to make me believe they can do it."

Rupp said that Marc-Andre Fleury is the best teammate he has ever played with. He expects that even though Fleury wants to be back in net, he will do everything to support Matt Murray as the starting goalie.

"You probably will still need him at some point," Rupp said. "But, you don't force it and Fleury will do nothing to force it."
