NFL Players Set To Coach Pitt's Blue-Gold Game

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — Former Pitt football stars and current NFL players Aaron Donald and Larry Fitzgerald will serve as honorary coaches for the Blue-Gold spring game on April 18 at Highmark Stadium.

"It's an idea that we had as a staff and we were able to pull it together and have two great former Pitt players come back and be around our guys," head coach Pat Narduzzi said.  "Hopefully, some of their greatness will rub off."

Fitzgerald is an eight-time Pro Bowl receiver, Donald was the 2014 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, and both were All-Americans at Pitt.

Quarterback Chad Voytik said the group is excited for the opportunity.

"I've never met Larry Fitgerald so that will be cool," Voytik said.

Fitzgerald will coach the blue team and Donald the gold. From there, the Pitt seniors will draft players onto each team.

Narduzzi said he views the spring game as an extra practice, but he also expects it to be a memorable one.

"To me it's a fun practice, it's something that you build to," Narduzzi said. "You work 14 days, there should be a light at the end of the tunnel, and to me that's what the spring game is and everybody has fun."
