New Storm Prompts Weather, Wind Chill, High Wind Advisories

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - Forecasters are warning Pennsylvania residents that another blast of winter weather could bring high winds and frigid temperatures.

Winter weather advisories have been posted for much of the commonwealth and wind chill advisories or warnings for Saturday night or early Sunday into late Sunday or Monday.

The National Weather Service says temperatures could get as low as 25 to 30 below zero with wind chill.

Anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reduced speeds to 45 mph on some interstates and highways Saturday.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike issued a travel advisory, asking motorists to reduce speeds if they encounter changing weather conditions.

Wind Saturday whipped up a lot of the snow, creating white out conditions.

Catholic Charities is also opening its warming station for people who need to escape the arctic blast.

The Susan Zubik Welcome Center on 212 Ninth Street downtown will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

There will be hot beverages, snacks and gently-used cold weather apparel.

The Welcome Center is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through March.
