Law School Dean, Legal Scholar To Be Duquesne U. President

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Law school dean and legal scholar Ken Gormley will become the new president of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh in July.

Gormley will become the 13th president of the 137-year-old private, Catholic school after the current president, Charles Dougherty, retires June 30. Dougherty announced his intention to retire in February, after 15 years as president.

Gormley was hired as a law professor at Duquesne in 1994 after first teaching at the University of Pittsburgh and practicing privately. He's been dean of the law school since 2010.

Gormley is an expert on the Watergate scandal and its legal ramifications, including a biography of special prosecutor Archibald Cox, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court. His latest book, "The Presidents and the Constitution: A Living History," is set for publication next year by NYU Press.
