New Details Emerging In Ford City Shooting That Injured Boy
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – There are new details on the shooting that left a 6-year-old Armstrong County boy critically injured earlier this week.
According to state police, Isaac Deemer was accidentally shot by his 9-year-old brother with a 9mm handgun at their Fourth Avenue home in Ford City Wednesday.
"I saw the oldest boy was running around frantic, yelling in his underwear in the front yard. I knew something bad happened. I ran, he said, 'Isaac got shot,'" said Michael Gratteri, a neighbor.
Newly-obtained police records provide new details of what happened that day.
State police investigators say "the victim's father was upstairs sleeping when the shooting occurred."
According to the police paperwork, "it was discovered that the father had left two handguns on the kitchen counter the night before. The father stated that he normally leaves the weapons loaded, but does not keep one [a bullet] in the chamber."
State police investigators say "the mother was aware the guns were on the kitchen island when she left this date in the morning for work."
KDKA's Marty Griffin is told that state police investigators are wrapping up their case. Investigators will provide all of their work to the District Attorney's Office.
The Armstrong County District Attorney will decide if any criminal charges will be filed regarding the shooting.
Isaac was taken to Children's Hospital after the shooting, and at last report was said to be in critical, but stable condition.
