Neighbor Alerts Family To North Side House Fire

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man walking his dog may have saved his neighbor's lives when fire broke out at a home on Pittsburgh's North Side.

The fire started just before 7:30 p.m. at a home in the 3700-block of East Street.

Charles Golden says he saw smoke coming from the roof of the house and then ran and pounded on the door to get the family out of the house.

"The owner came to the door and I told him the house is on fire, and he got his, I think it's his granddaughter, and the dog and they have a little girl also, and they got everybody out," said Golden. "And as I was pounding on the door, we had the fire trucks coming right away."

No one was injured.

Fire crews are trying to determine what sparked the fire.
