Neal Huntington Opens Up About Martin Move, Cervelli Acquisition

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- Neal Huntington joined Chris Mueller at PirateFest and they open up talking about Russell Martin moving on to Toronto and what Francisco Cervelli brings to this team.

"We have tried to acquire Cervelli a handfull of times," said Huntington. "We worked as hard as we could to keep them away from Justin Wilson, but at the end that is who they needed."

They talked about the outfield and Gregory Polanco's first season in the majors last year. Neal says the next step is for Polanco to close the holes that opponents found in his swing and he believes that he will be able to do that.

Chris asks Neal about Starling Marte and how he reminds him of Mike Trout.

Huntington says Marte is going to be someone who can knock people in or get on base for other people to knock him in.

He says the idea is for Marte to remain in the middle of the batting order next season.
