Natrona's Boathouse Hotel Closed For Delinquent Taxes

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The county treasurer has closed the Boathouse Hotel for not paying the county alcohol and beverage tax.

County Treasurer John Weinstein says the Natrona-based business, located on Walnut Street, was padlocked Friday morning.

Officials say the business owes more than $5,600 in delinquent taxes.

"These closings are a continuation of my effort to protect the taxpayers from delinquent bar owners who misappropriate their money," Weinstein said in a press release. "As I stated many times before, it is not fair to other bar and restaurant owners, and the taxpayers who frequent these establishments that the Alcoholic Beverage Tax collected are not remitted to the county in a timely manner."

The country treasurer has closed 40 businesses so far for failing to pay the county alcohol and beverage tax.
