Murder Suspect Found Dead

HOMEWOOD (KDKA)- Police surrounded a home in Homewood Friday morning, looking for the man accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend.

When police arrived in the 7800 block of Hamilton Avenue to try and find 20 year Kerrese Lawrence, officers heard shots fired.

KDKA's Heather Abraham Reports:

They quickly called in S.W.A.T. to surround the home.

When officers entered the home a short time later, they found Lawrence dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Lawerence is accused of shooting 20 year old Lauren Williams in the head. She later died at the hospital.

Williams was pregnant with her first child.

The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday as Williams was leaving a relative's house on Kincaid Street.

KDKA's Brenda Waters Reports:

"My daughter was a good person. She was the best. Sadly she was taken away," "I can't believe this," Williams' mother, Laurell Harbour, said.

Hours after the shooting, Pittsburgh Police filed an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Karrese Lawrence.

"Another man took my child. Bragging about what he's done," Harbour said. "He just took my daughter away from me."

KDKA's Heather Abraham Reports:

Family members gathered at a relative's house on Kincaid Street where Williams was shot.

"My little sister just stayed the night at my house. She as supposed to come back last night. I just talked to her on the phone," Williams' sister, Lakisha Watts, said.

Family members said this tragedy is like déjà vu for them. Just two years ago, they lost another young relative. Ne'Ondre Harbour, 16, a high school student and a football player with a bright future, was the innocent victim of a shooting in the same neighborhood.
