Munhall Firefighter Remembered 20 Years After Dying In Firetruck Crash

MUNHALL (KDKA) – Firefighters, community members and loved ones gathered in Munhall Sunday to remember a firefighter who lose his life 20 years ago.

William Marks with Munhall Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 died on Aug. 5, 1995 after the firetruck he was riding in crashed.

Six other firefighters were also inside responding to a call when the truck suffered a mechanical issue and rolled over several times on Martha Street.

All seven were hospitalized, but Marks was the only one to lose his life.

Today the fire company held a memorial to honor Marks two decades after his death -- a man they call, "a friend, a mentor, and most of all a hero."
