Munhall Family Dollar Closed Due To Rodent Infestation

MUNHALL (KDKA) -- A Family Dollar in Munhall has been closed due to a rodent infestation.

The store located on 8th Avenue, has been ordered to close by the Allegheny County Health Department due to a rodent infestation.

An inspector found rodent droppings, a gnawed package of chips and an odor of urine in the store.

"There was food that was gnawed, that was the primary problem and it was throughout the whole store," explained Donna Scharding with the Allegheny County Health Department.

The store is reportedly to remain closed until the problem is eliminated.

"Mice are very difficult to eradicate, they can squeeze through holes the size of a dime," Scharding said.

Cindy Freeman, a frequent shopper, was stunned.

"I shop here all the time and I just couldn't believe that the store was closed. I love the Family Dollar," she said. "It makes me think twice about even coming back here if the store reopens."
