5 shot at Middle Hill District bar

5 people shot in Middle Hill District

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Five people were shot at a bar in the Middle Hill District on Wednesday night.

Just before 11 p.m., police were called to Webster Avenue for reports of two people shot at Jay's Lounge.

Medics took two victims to the hospital in serious condition and three other victims arrived at the hospital via private vehicles.

As of Thursday morning, three people are in critical condition and a fourth has already been released from the hospital.

Jeannie Blackwell has lived in the Hill District for decades and says it's not safe. She was sitting on her porch last night around 10:45 when she heard the gunfire just steps away from her house.

"Me and my two friends, we're all on top of each other trying to crawl inside the house cause you're scared," Blackwell said.

Blackwell is demanding her neighborhood be cleaned up and the bar shut down.

"It happens at night from the bars," Blackwell said.

"You don't want to sit outside and worry if you're going to get shot, if your house is going to get shot, your car going to get shot. You don't want to have that feeling all the time."

Anyone with information is asked to call Pittsburgh Police Major Crimes at 412-323-7800.
