Two Killed In Multi-Vehicle Turnpike Crash In Somerset County

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Saturday morning.
According to State Police, the crash occurred along the eastbound lanes of the Turnpike in Jefferson Township around 6:41 a.m.
The first crash happened when a car hit a guiderail.
"That caused two accidents to follow. The second accident involved two passenger cars," Renee Vid Colborn, with Pennsylvania Turnpike Public Relations, said. "The third accident involved a tractor-trailer and a passenger car."
The tractor-trailer had stopped on the road because the second accident was blocking both lanes, and a driver approaching behind the tractor-trailer lost control of his car and crashed into the vehicle.
The driver, 55-year-old William Nace, and the front passenger, 47-year-old Debra Nace, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two juvenile passengers -- a 16-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl -- were taken to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh for minor injuries.
All four victims are from Delaware, Ohio. State police say all four were wearing their seat belts.
No other drivers or passengers were injured in the other crashes.
All lanes were closed in the eastbound direction between New Stanton and Breezewood for several hours.
