Suspects Sought In Rash Of East Liberty Area Business Robberies

EAST LIBERY (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police say at least six businesses were hit by robbers during a two week period from Nov. 1 to Nov. 14, in the East Liberty-Bloomfield neighborhoods.

The stickups occurred within several blocks of each other and involved shoe and dollar stores, convenience stores, and a fashion shop.

"In each case, one, if not two armed men, went into the businesses, and held up store employees at gunpoint," said Public Safety Department spokesperson Emily Schaffer.

Police released three surveillance photos of two of the suspects. It's not known if the robberies were a coincidence, or if they were connected.

No one was shot during the heists, even though a weapon was displayed. Schaffer said most of the robberies occurred in the afternoon, in broad daylight, or in early evening.

The Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers number is 412-255-8477. You can remain anonymous, and there is a reward for information leading to arrests and convictions.
