Alumni Offers Reward After Threatening Bullet Casings Found At Football Field
MT. PLEASANT (KDKA) – An alumni of the Mt. Pleasant Junior Football League is stepping up, hoping to save the remainder of the season.
It was cancelled after someone left bullet casings at the field.
Bullet casings were found at Hurst Filed earlier this month.
Each one had the name of a league officer written in permanent marker.
After consulting with State Police and the FBI, the league canceled the season.
Peter Field played in the football program's first game 50 years ago. He's heartbroken and is offering a $500 reward to catch whomever made the threats.
"It's a shame because these kids worked hard for two months before the season and then played a couple of games and then this went on to happen," he said.
The kids won't give up. They practice every day and State Police hope their continued hard work will pay off.
"These kids are continuing to practice and to conduct themselves," said State Police Tpr. Steve Limani. "They practice for a football game that may never take place. So we're hoping that we get lucky and we're able to possibly salvage the season if we get information quickly enough."
Police believe the bullet shells were left by someone who's disgruntled with the league. They continue to investigate, but so far there are no leads.
Field hopes the reward offer may prompt someone to come forward.
