MT. LEBANON (KDKA) -- Police and a CERT team were called to a Mt. Lebanon home after a domestic call Friday evening.

It began at a home in the 400 block of Anawanda Avenue around 5 p.m.

Mt. Lebanon Police say a man was arguing with his mother and assaulted and threatened her as she was trying to leave.

A CERT team was also called to the scene.

"We wanted to err on the side of caution," Police Chief Aaron Lauth said, "and the fact that there was a threat of weapons being involved, we wanted to make sure the community was safe, the people involved directly were safe, as well as obviously our police officers were safe."

The son came out of the house peacefully and surrendered around 6 p.m. He was taken to police headquarters to be questioned.

Police say they found guns inside the house.

Charges are expected to be filed.
