Mount Pleasant Police Officer Charged With Attempted Rape

ACME (KDKA) - A Mount Pleasant Police Officer has been charged with attempted rape and simple assault.

Pennsylvania State Police filed charges against John Brown in an incident that allegedly occurred in Acme on Dec. 3, 2015.

A criminal complaint states that Brown invited the alleged victim to his home, and sexually assaulted her against her will as well as physically assaulting her.

"He became aggressive toward the female, demanding that she participate in sexual activity with him," said State Trooper Stephen Limani.

Police say when the woman refused, Brown became more violent.

"He forced himself on her, choked her, struck her. She had injuries that were indicative of that type of assault," Limani said.

She eventually escaped the situation when two friends showed up and took her away.

Brown has been suspended from the police force, and is charged with attempted rape, attempted assault and aggravated assault. He is being held on $150,000 bond.
