Mother Sentenced To Prison After Car Crash That Killed Her Own Child

STROUDSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania mother who authorities say was driving under the influence of drugs when she caused a head-on crash that killed her young daughter is now headed to prison.

Rebecca Willis was sentenced Tuesday to a term of 18 to 36 months in prison. The 44-year-old East Stroudsburg woman had pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence and reckless endangerment counts stemming from the June 2015 death.

State police have said Willis was driving near Stroudsburg when her car crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on. Her 6-year-old daughter, Sophia, was in a car seat but was not properly belted in and died of her injuries.
