Mother Of 2 Victims Of Gun Violence Pleads For Community To Take Stand
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- As police continue to search for the suspect who shot and killed a man on Easter Sunday, the victim's mother is making a tearful plea to the community after losing a second child to gun violence.
Christopher Graham-Richardson, 20, of Pittsburgh, was fatally gunned down Easter Sunday as he was driving a Volvo in the Hill District. Two of his friends who were in the car with him were wounded.
Richardson's mother, Jacqueline Graham, told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti that her son died just hours after he had attended church services with her.
"The two boys with my son in the car lived," Graham said. "They saw the killer, but will not talk to detectives. People are not speaking up, that's the problem."
Eight years ago, Graham's 20-year-old pregnant daughter, Shalane Graham, also died as a victim of gun violence. Now, a small neighborhood park carries her name, "Shalane's Play Yard."
"We need our communities to start standing up," Graham said. "We got to take a stand, because I promise you, it's my son today, it [could be] yours tomorrow."
