Mother In Mourning After Son Gunned Down In Homewood

HOMEWOOD (KDKA) – A mother is in mourning after her son. a local contractor, was shot and killed in Homewood Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the shooting happened around 4 p.m. in the 500-block of Albion Street near Finance Street, outside of a vacant home.

The victim has been identified as Glenn Walker, Jr., 39, of McKeesport.

Nancy Walker can't believe her son is gone. He was the youngest of three and now, all of her kids have passed away.

She said she has no idea who could have pulled the trigger.

"I just ask the Lord to get me through it. His hands are my hands and he's all I can depend on," Nancy said.

Now, Nancy is trying to cope after the loss of her son, who she fondly called "Pookie."

"Parents are supposed to leave before their children. But, nowadays, the children are leaving before their parents. Young, small, teenager, whatever age," Nancy said.

Police said Walker was at a vacant home with his business partner and a third person discussing a construction project. Then, over 15 shots were fired after some sort of argument.

Walker was found dead on the street outside of the home. A gun used in the shooting was on the ground next to him.

Police said his business partner was shot in the eye and taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital0 for surgery. Police are trying to locate the third person to talk to them.

Nancy said she last talked to her son on Tuesday.

"I did not know that was going to be the last time I was going to talk to my child and I know he didn't know that was going to be the last time he'd talk to me," she said.

The Medical Examiner's Office is scheduled to do an autopsy on Wednesday.

No arrests have been made at this time.
