Mother, Friend Accused Of Having Young Sons Shoplift For Them

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- Two Fayette County women are facing charges, accused of using two boys – ages 11 and 13 – in a shoplifting incident at a CVS Pharmacy in Uniontown.

Facing charges of conspiracy and corruption of a minor are Mary Lancaster and Angie Kimmel, both 35 and both from Uniontown.

Police say they used Lancaster's two sons to steal items from the CVS, but it was Lancaster and Kimmel who orchestrated the thefts.

According to police, the woman allegedly told the boys what items to steal, mainly cosmetics and hairspray.

Pharmacy surveillance video released by Uniontown Police Lt. Tom Kolencik shows the boys taking the items.

Kolencik told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti, "This isn't something that an 11- or a 13-year-old thinks of; this is parent produced."

Police were called to the pharmacy Tuesday evening, because they believed the older boy had done the shoplifting. When they arrived, he was in the backseat of a car, with his mother scolding him.

An hour or so later, Lt. Kolencik said, "A store employee called me and said I needed to come back and look at the video. It shows the mother [Lancaster] walking with her son, picking up items and handing them to him."

The boys have also been charged, as juveniles, with retail theft.
