More Snow Closing In On Pittsburgh Region

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The first significant snowfall of 2014 is closing in on the Pittsburgh region.

According to KDKA-TV Meteorologist Dennis Bowman, a range in temperatures will be experienced on New Year's Day as a cold front is draped across the Interstate 80 corridor.

Snow in that vicinity will amount to a dusting to an inch, while the remainder of our area will be dry.

Temperatures will be in the mid-20s near I-80 and in the low 40s near Uniontown and Morgantown. The high in Pittsburgh will be 35 degrees.

Tonight, snow arrives toward morning and will become steady during the day on Thursday.

A general 1-3 inches of snow in southwest Pennsylvania is expected with 3-6 inches near I-80 and in the ridges.

The high tomorrow will be near 30 degrees, which will fall to about 10 degrees by Friday morning.

Temperatures only recover to about 17 for Friday afternoon and wind chills will be sub-zero.
