Monster Jam Returns To Consol Energy Center

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Earth movers lay the ground work for weekend performances, as Monster Jam returns to Consol Energy Center.

Eight massive monsters wait in the wings, including a new kid called "Backwards Bob."

Driver Bryan Wright says the body of the truck is actually mounted backwards.

"Everybody kind of looks at it and like, wow, they're confused at first. But hey, we make it work, and as long as the kids love it and the fans love it, it's something a little different."

Newcomer Backwards Bob will match up with a longtime favorite called "Grave Digger."

"Grave digger truck stands about eleven feet tall," says driver Pablo Huffaker. "The tires are 66 by 43 by 25. That's 5-and-a-half-feet tall. hey weigh about 750 pounds apiece."

He admits there have been occasions when Grave Digger almost lived up to its name.

"I've been in fires," he recalls, "and turned this thing over hundreds of times, and seemed to just walk away from it every time. So I've been blessed."
