Monroeville Apartment Building Owner Promises To Fix Heat, Power Problems

MONROEVILLE (KDKA) -- Residents at a Monroeville apartment complex are worried they may have to go another night without heat.

People living at the Northern Pike Garden Apartments on Monroeville Boulevard tell KDKA they haven't had heat since Saturday.

"My main concern is the kids, so we're packing up," said resident Robert Easley.

"Unacceptable. It's unacceptable," resident Stacey Harris told KDKA-TV reporter Marty Griffin.

Other residents say they are breaking their lease and moving out.

Griffin caught up with building owner Mike Melik who says there has been no power outage.

In fact, Melik says he has had generators running around the clock since the building had electricity problems Saturday.

The owner admits the power did shut off for short periods of time, but only when it ran out of fuel.

Melik promised KDKA he will have full power restored and the electrical problems fixed by Thursday.
