Mine Subsidence Opens Sinkhole In Penn Hills, Shuts Down Road

PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- A sinkhole has prompted Allegheny County Public Works crews to shut down a road in Penn Hills.

According to county officials, the sinkhole is located in the 2800-block of Laketon Road, near the intersection of Crab Hollow Road.

It is being caused by mine subsidence.

Residents who live in the area will be allowed on the road, but all other traffic will have to find a way around the closure.

There's no word on when repairs will be made and the road reopened.
